Man, you know, the news continues to be a little troubling around here. Still a lot of news coming out with police and other people getting shot or assaulted by police, and these stories are certainly disheartening, but we're going to try to do some positive things and talk about some positive stories today. So we'll get into that. Also today I have a special guest because patty singer has a well deserved day off today, so it's me flying solo doing the headlines just a moment. But I do have a special guests, the Rad man, George Radney, from the challenger Community News and also one hundred five point five, the beat. He does sports reporting for both of those. So I'm happy to have George on board. But first, before we do any of that, let me in for petty singer bring you the latest headlines from the minority reporter. All right, this week the cover story on the minor reporter advocates addressed violence in the community, hopes for life and less violence. Some of the local stories that the minority porter is reporting, food leak programs, seeks aspiring chefs jobs and minority owned businesses are highlighted in the mayor's third state of the city episode. Stop the violence. Local organizations cry out for the community's help. Monroe county adjust to pause in the use of the Jackson and Johnson Covid Veck covid nineteen vaccine. Will you get your vaccine in time? From Memorial Day the Rochester City School district gets more money from the state budget. Monroe County Parks Department seeks seasonal workers a tribute remembering artist Letitia Tiss Eggleston, sister front lover of life. The Police Accountability Board wants close to five million from the city budget. In the minority reporters national news it's worse than we thought, and this isn't regards to the recent police violence and in opinion, Jesse Jackson, rights, George Floyd, justice and Policing Act would set smart national standards for police behavior. Welcome back to inside the margins. Okay. Well, so we're going to do something a little different. I know we don't do a lot of sports on inside the margins, but I gotta got a great gas. He's a friend of mine and we've worked on other shows and he's also a columnist for the challenger Community News. It is the Radman himself, George. Right now you're doing, Georgie, Hey, wonderful grant to be a gift on yourself. Many long time coming. Glad to follow you now. I appreciate you man. You are you're very good at what you do, so I'm very happy to have you on so we could talk at the sports today. So there's a great there's a lot going on with the Sports Georgie because you know, spring is is now here, summer's coming. A lot of people talking on a...

...bowl, a lot of people talking MBA and SAA. So let's start off with college sports. So there's been a rule change in the NCAA. Can we talk a little bit more about that? Would and with that, with that entails? Yes, the portal will now be permanent. The portal was they would trying it out on the trial based almost a thousand students in the portal in the port of is. If you're if you had the college, you get recruited. This back by Nick Stavement, for example, comes to your home, recruits you. You go there, you find out you on set, you got two other running backs ahead of you. Be Like Wow, I'm not going to get much playing time, only a little playing time. Right. You can leave and this could help stop Alabama being the powerhouse that they are, because now these coaches can't keep these kids to their to to at that school forever for the four years or three years, depending on how many. If they're good enough to go to the pros, you can leave that school and transfer one time within your four year college eligibility, and that's a big news to students in all Area Division One, two and three. You if you don't like the program, you get there. They sold you a bill of goods and you like, man, this isn't what the man I can't do. took the tour and now, didn't they? But no, I had no let me, mom and Mom Dad, I want to get out of here. Now. You got to do. Go to this portal and you can transfer one time. So I was suggestment those kids going to portal take their time and look at the program and hopefully between hopefully there's enough time that when they're school, before the school year is they can they can to the other city or go get a chance to go on that campus and see the campus and see where it's all about, because you're now once you go to make that first move, you locked in. Yeah, you locked in. You have to say. That's why you see it's better. A lot of students leaving the sophomore junior year, but you only have one more year a college left. Right that they can say hey, let me get I'm tired of this guy, let me get out of here, let me go over here to always like this campus anyway and boom and make a change. So it's better to do it really your sophomore the junior year, so that you at the most two years you're staying at that campus. But it's great news for it for the studs time. Right. Yeah, that makes and that makes sense to me too. Question for you on that, Georgie. Is that going to change how scouting is done, do you think or people are still going to approach scouting the students the same way, or are they gonna maybe do sell the college in a different format because they know that they can actually lose that student if they don't like what they see? Yeah, or be honest, be honest right about the program and if you're not honestly with the student about the program or how many players you bring it in at that position, if you're athletes student Atflick, you you you now forcing eight these recruiters to be more honest when they're in your home, get you signed up right and coming to your school. And now you're going to have to be good at the portal, because those kids that you lose. It's so you lose this kid, you lose several kids. You don't get them all. But when you see these kids naming the portal now you can contact them and say, Hey, you remember, you came here, took a look. You know, we still valid. I hope we can be a valid option for you. And now you go to see the recruitment being generated by the portal and now you're going to get to see which colleges has the best recruiters on the second time around. Right, second time, I'll move right, because now even the second shot at that, kids missed out on freshman here. Who got the good recruiters? That can say, Hey, I didn't want to tell you, but there, yeah, I do. You sell you a bill of goods, but this is what we do here and we not going to mess around with all that nonsense. Blah, blah, blah. Who are the better recruiters? Those kids out of the portal? Right, nope, and makes sense. I think that. I do think it's great news for the students. Instead of being trapped somewhere, now you have an option to go somewhere better if you don't like what you were what you were showing in the first place. I saw a question. I don't think there's any news about this, but I've always just have a discussion with you. And regards to students being paid, obviously colleges make a lot of money off of student athletes selling merchandise, just stadiums themselves being being sold out because as star players. There is there any talks about that at all going on, about getting some sort of money towards the students, the especially the star students, the ones that bring all the money in. The revenue went to the colleges? Yes, I think you're going to see that in the next couple of years. I think you're going to see these sales. I think you're going to see the students get some type of commission, especially if their Jersey's are being sold. They're going to get some type I been a commission from the amount of those jerseys being sold. They're working on that now. They try to see how they could do that in a fair way, because obviously every student can't get paid, or they should can get paid something, something, some type of stipend. But then you got the bigger name kids who did Jersey so like hot cakes and they're the faces right right years. Those kids should get a little bit more toward their not more, because they got the education pay for yeah, which is it a hundred sixty thousand, but you talk about the school making maybe over a million...

...billions. Right, right, right, hey, is mayas you know, especially when they go to these bowl games and bright who glad during the postseason. I mean it's they make him way more than what the kids education is valued at. So they need to take step to the table, give some of that money back and pay some of these kids what they truly deserve. Okay, look, I agree with that. Yet more to come on that and that I think that's good news for the students. Smoove on into another player that's in the news. Still a lot of civil lawsuits pending, but I think there's some good news for workers, you can say, deshawn Watson, all the civil suits regarding to the massuses and the the sexual allegations. Do you have any updates on that, Georgie? Yeah, I just think just my own personal pay. Sure, I thought it was quite interesting how he said down he had. Deshan Watson had to know that. People knew about how he carried himself there in the Houston area. Right. A good guy. He's known for the philanthropy. He gives a lot of money donations, furniture, houses, cars, they love them down there in the Houston area. But because of his side thing with the Massusus, and it's obvious that he but he's the starting to admit now that some of these missuses were for sex as well and they were paid accordingly, and that's that's starting to come out now that he has to admit that side of it is as well. But I'm just curious about his thought process when he when he first said he wanted to leave the Texas. Okay, I understood that, but then how far do you push it when you know you have skeletons in the club? That's what I don't understand. What his intellect if he knew, if he knew he's involved in this type of side activity besides the good stuff, you had to know that the organization, they're not going to give you. gave me that yeah, kind of bonus, that big contract, and you saw how they did the other players, doesn't black players, and how they treated them and how the ownership talked about black players. That the father somebody. He Ain't going to let the prisoners run the asylum. So when you get people making those type of comments publicly, I would. I would have thought really long and hard about pushed it. I would have maybe pushed the issue to be traded, to say hey, look, I really like to make it. See what we can do to make a trade out of here. But knowing you has skeletons in the closet, I would have thought he would have. You know, it would have been a less tone down, because he went really hard at them and now they coming back really hard at him and it's obvious that the textans are behind this, that you know they allegedly you know they're not, but you really know they have. They says they're involved in this some kind of way. I agree, I might. In my personal opinion, I'm thinking that they probably helped cover all this up and then, and then, and then, once he decided that he was going to leave, there like you know what, if you leave, we're gonna open this can of worms. They pretty much ruin your life. And he still pushed it and now he's kind of paying the price for that. Yeah, I'm I just wanted that's quite ares. I just wondered what his whole logic was that he was that he didn't care or he didn't think it would get to this or in his mine is my he might thought he wasn't doing anything wrong and he can show that. He has receipts and, you know, people were paid and it was a mutual agreement right in things of that nature. So maybe in his mind he thought this was all I got to be okay, Hey, because I would love to hear that from the sometime down in row. She was God for us, is right. Right. Yeah, why did you force it when you knew you had here? So he has some stuff. You know, I got. I do have a quick clip on the latest with the Shan Watson go ahead and play that for you, all right. Deshaun Watson's attorney, Rusty Harden, confirming that one of twenty two civil lawsuits filed against the euston Texans quarterback has been dropped hard and says he received the names of twenty of the plaintiffs claiming sexual assault or misconduct by Watson. That's after two judges ruled during emergency hearings last week that those formally anonymous Chanineos had to come forward with their identity in order to move forward with the legal process. One identity remains unknown, while, according to Tony Buzzby the attorney for all these accusers. One person opted to drop their case for now over fears for their privacy. Watson continues to deny the allegations of love it against him. Mattinapolitano, Fox News. All right, Georgie. So I find that interesting. It looks like so what? According to three this report, some of these ladies are beginning to drop the lawsses because they don't want their names in the public right. I've been a very interesting so do I. and I thought, and what's even more interested is what I read recently on the case out of the USTON public newspaper down there, the chronicle, they were saying in the publication that rusty herd, who's The attorney for the Stun Watson, made a statement said that, okay, we want the names of the women, we want to announce the names of these ladies publicly so that we all know who what's going on, who they are publicly, so everybody know. But the attorney for the women. And now he's coming back saying no, here's what we need. Is What we going to do. We're going to make these names only publicly in the courtroom.

He wants those names only in the car courtroom and he does not want those names to be out publicly to everybody else. He doesn't want the newspapers and nobody else to get the names and have the names of the women. And the guy said no, no, no, that it's so their fight right now. That's what the bone of contention is is either you got to know they wanted more than just in the courtroom. They want everybody, the whole general public to know, and I think a lot of these women don't want that, to know what their side hustle might be. Yeah, my head might have been. You joked right into what I was kind of going into you, George, the fact, because you know how it is. Yeah, I think that they may be doing so. I don't think and I there's no proof of this. I'm just to just be speculating legally. Right, right, but maybe this is something that they've been doing with other people and if you put their names out there and people start doing background checks on you, you might open up a whole nother can of worms on with these women, these alleged women, who are who are trying to get the suits. Have they been doing with other people? Is this something that they do on a regular basis? Are they getting paid by other athletes? You might open a whole thing up if you do that. Politicians the whole night, right, right, don't know. And but they but, but they saying they're a class act and everything, with your school right, class acted, classic, classy business, certification, the whole nine yards. But you know, when you deal with people with a lot of money and you said, hey, man, somebody drop five hundred dollars on the table, you don't know exactly right, exactly a thousand dollars tip and all that. You know, hey, you know what's you know what's going on. They picking, they making their money discreetly. But I don't think. I think the way Tony Busby went about it, by putting it in the public like it's like he put ahead in the newspaper on the radio said anybody that feels they were affected by him, and I think he sold them a bill of goods that we want you to testify not. But now they seeing that, hey, wait a minute, he's not stupid, he's getting a good attorney to yeah, some of these women signed. Some of these women signed disclosures too with them when he made when he when they when he played them then what are you right right now? Let us have disclosure, and it's like, what a man. If you sound, why are you signed? Let us have disclosure. When you when you get this money? He would come on, we know something that that that lets you know that they're was there was kind of a yeah, right, there may be a discussion about what was gonna happen. Then you sign an agreement. Then that you know. So that's that. That's all. Yeah, I'm curious to see all this sold. Don't plays out. I think you're right. Obviously I think deshawn watch it is probably guilty of something, but I think a lot less than what people think. He did. Correct. And you know, you don't hear any abuse that he beat on or hit on right, right, physical or was abusive. You know, you have heard the wear abusive. Nothing, you you just hear them. He keeps saying sexual assault. Right, well, what was this said? And they said he bumped his penis into the woman's hand. I didn't know that was sexual assault. You know. You know. When did that become sexual assaw, I was making a said when did that become sexual right, all right, the woman did. And then the woman claims she is out. This session is over with and she walked out. So to me that's okay. She said no, no, no, that's not what she here for and she and she loves to me, that's that doesn't sound like what we would normally think of as a sexual assault. Right, right, it's not. Calls. Maybe not a classy move, but not the brightest thing to do. No, you got over thirty eight for almost forty some mansus. I mean that. That's a red flag right there. That's what the Hell is there you need? Yeah, that's great. That tells you right there. He's out, but for something else. Trying to get some right, exactly. All right, let's let's listen with that and hopefully he'll be able to get a trade worked out, because he blew the track caret RNA definitely wanted them, and I think the owners too, are in cohoes too. Allegedly, the owners are not all on the use of God. They don't want they don't want him to league because of what it would mean for other guys who signed big contracts in the same season and then turn around one to be trading after the season. Right, I know, I know on another show that we both were on, you mentioned a lot of the players have a clause in their contracts like a if they are caught doing you know, bad things are conduct cause clause. Right. Yeah, so that's correct. This conduct clause could make their contract non void and then they may not get any money from it as that and my saying that accurately. Yes, you are, you one hundred percent accord met. And on top of it, he would have to pay some of that bonus money back. HMM. Yeah, they make you play most of that bonus that you receive, that sign and bonus. You know, two hundred sixty two million. Hey Man, you might have to turn most of that sixty two million back in wow, wow. So, yeah, there's all. There's a there's a lot of things that play on this. Yet I'm definitely going to keep mine on that. More to come on that. All right, let's take it locally here, George, Buffalo Bills. So I think that, if if I'm not mistaken, I think they were one of...

...the first teams in the NFL to announce that they're going to let the stadium be full to capacity. Yes, but there is a clause. HMM. So when we talk about that closet, so what are the Buffal bill saying people have to do in order to see a Buffalo Bills Games live this this season. Oh, you have to have your covid test, you have to make sure you cleared, show your cards. So some kind of way they probably going to have you take a picture on your phone and something right and send it to them showing that to that to tested legally so that then they can let you into the stadium. I think that's going to be very interesting to see how that goes. Right now, the big story now is the players union is telling their players not to show up to OATS PAS which start this coming Monday. Monday, the Nineteen of April, Ota start across the NFL, where you supposed to show up and practice and work as a team. Work out as a team, and most of the teams now, some most majority of teams now, are announcing that they'll do it. Virtually they won't because their players, association talented players, do not show up. When you stay home, you work out at your own personal gym, wherever you working at right now. Work Out, continue to work out and just if you got to have meetings with your team, do it virtually. So I'm going to see just as don't be curious to see how many teams forced to, if any teams forced the players to show up next week. Yeah, that's actually a great point. What's your which? Have you heard any feedback on the thoughts of the extension of the season, because I know that was that was big news that they actually added another game. Yeah, how the how of the players and the coaches and owners? I don't know if you've got any feedback for many of them, but how are they feeling about that? People generally upset about that or they happy about unitor. The coaches don't mind. The coach the players are totally upset. I think de Murrie Smith sold them a bill of goods. The younger play because you have so many players. The guys who make the big money definitely didn't want it. The younger guys who only play one to three years. They are and it's more of guys that play in the League one, two, three years only in their careers are done. So you what, you haven't that many more of those guys. They want to try to make as much money as possible when they're when they're able to play. So they gave them an extra thousand twollars I think about been an extra hundred thousand dollars from from four hundred thousand five hundred thousand dollar minimum salary. So you make an extra hundred thousand dollars coming in it as your first year setter, year, thirty year player, just coming in and playing and hoping to make the way. You just barely make the team and takes of that nature. But the star guys, which is only maybe, people don't realize there's only maybe, I haven five, yeah, very important guys per team. It may only be five guys on certain teams that's making all the money in they're making twenty five million a year. Russell Wilson make thirty five million last year. Most of those seahawks didn't make didn't make didn't make one million. Right, right, you guys sell, a couple guys making two million, four million, five men. But people don't realize that. When you hear his name and what he makes, you thinking all those guys in the huddle making around the same money. That's not that's how you got some guys making four hundred thousand and right hund right, right, lot people making base salary there, right, exactly right. So the NFL takes of Manus to that and the Indmore Smith put that out there. Say we will play the lowing guys. More money in the lowing guys is more of them. So they out voted the veteran guys because they shouldn't have signed that deal. They shouldn't have signed the deal. You playing seventeen games and that last game it's gonna make up more money for the owners. The owners is making big money just off of that seventeen game and then, on top of it, not a saying, while some of you players don't know the hand of your money. So here's what we're going to do for you guys. We've got a whole your check for we're gotta hold your check. But what thirty? For another, two, three, four, six, eight weeks. They'll hold your money for you. Yep, so that means they making money in the bank. Interest, interest off your money. Right, make another on interst off of your money. That you shouldn't get paid back a week seventeen, but you can pay two three months down the road now. Man, it's ridiculous what the owners are doing to him now and I think de Murrie Smith is it is all sad to say he does. He Don went over to the side of the owners and they need to get rid of him and find find somebody. It always happens. Yeah, I starts off against them. The players got in the honestly, they sucker a man, they get a man on something and next you know, here he is. He really fighting for them and not not for the best interest in the players. Right, yeah, you know how your thousand dollars extra is nice, but you know, if you end up breaking your spine, you know, from a hit from extra game, is it really worth that? I show hundred thousand dollars. Right, right, is it exactly? It's back. I mean you luck at some of these guys play five, six, twelve years, like Edelman, Jewish element, he was. Julian Ellman was able to play twelve years. He was the sum from that draft pick. was supposed to make the team, but he hustled, he busted his butt and now he can't play. He's really like he said, he's retiring because he just physically can't play do it anymore. Right. Yeah, these are shot is, these are shot. So ten fifteen years down the...

...road, how'd you know? I'm gonna look, he's probably gonna have a kine and be replacement, you know, and that's all for playing football fifteen, twenty years ago. Yep, Yep. So that's and that's that's a big deal. People don't think about that. It's I love what obviously I'm a football fan. You are too. I love watching football, but you're right, those hits are I played a little bit of football when I was in high school. You get hit, man hurts and if that's your job, this what you do all the time. That as that one extra game where you're going all out because it's a real game. It's that it's not like it's a scrimmageism. It's a real game. So you're going all out for one more game. You could really do some damage to yourself that I should get that extra game and using nine times outendo games don't mean ain't right that the division everything is pretty much subtle. You kind of know even after six that's I don't doesn't make sist to me that they should keep it at sixteen because when you get to game sixteen, you pretty much most of the positions are set. Using his one or two games that really are team trying to make the playoff, which is really a playoff game. They tried to play into the playoffs, because whoever wins makes the playoffs and whoever loses don't. And as using one or two games at the more, I think this season I think it was like what two games? Yeah, really had had to play maybe three? Yep, to mayby three, probably, yeah, yeah, yeah, so it's not worth it to me. It's not worth it. You hurt, you tear your body up, and the owners don't care. They they they give up pocket stocks making the money. Hell, they come out of her pockets. You're right, exactly. They'll put it. They might play for folk. Fill more players on the taxi squad that you can replace guys are engine but come on, man, those guys are getting paid peanuts. Yep, yeah, all right, all right, Georgie. Well, that's all the time we got a I really appreciate you being as I got get you. I gotta have you on again. It's always good to have someone with all the sports pack background there to keep us some form of what's going on in the sports world because obviously a lot of sports are around the corner. Man, all things about to happen. So I just want to off the I'll to have you back off when you talk some more sports, as that sound, please do, because I found drafts. In two weeks you got basically baseball is going on right now. You got a lot of NBA playoffs are coming up, and that's another thing. That's another league. They got greedy. They went after more money. Yeah, okay, you got a big New TV contract that just started in the fall. Everybody got paid, but now look, half of the guys are in the hospital with soft tissue injuries because turned around, it's played again and when they finished in octovid they shouldn't been playing at to March. They should have went march to July with the season. They should have been turned around playing just a month later. And now you see it. Your Mom Murray blew is the off. Lastly, Jesus, yeah, Lebron is finally hurt. Yeah, a D who's always productly adjured. He's Hert. He's been out hardens hurt. Kevin Durand WHO's coming up that horrific Achilles injury? He's hurt and who's my surviving day? It makes for interesting playoffs that a team could come out of the blue. It's some rights. Know what, when we have you back on we up Tux in basketball, because I agree with you. I think those those very small rest period between the seasons. Yeah, the people are going to really suffer from that. That's still sutter. You. Injuries are definitely showing up. I want to talk about that next time, but we got to get going. Georgie a man, thanks a lot, brother. I'm glad you came on. We'll do this again. Okay, all right, look forward to appreciate it. He up the good work and remember they can shift me out one hundred and five point five to beat pro talk plus every Saturday morning, seven a m to eight am on one hundred and five point five FM, excellent, and also on the challenger Community News. Correct, that's correct. Challenge the Community News. This one stem supports articles over there. All right, excellent, George Raddy, the Rad man from challenge community news. All right, we'll take a quick break. This is inside the merchet. This is one hundred point nine fem extreme independent radio, your urban alternative. But Yeah, is two thou Bo I, the information they's got him.
